This half-day conference in Berlin brings together politicians and experts from Germany and beyond to identify possible solutions to the task of sustaining jobs, growth and investment throughout Europe. With challenges exacerbated by the introduction of the single currency and planned EU enlargement, the conference will examine prospects for structural change and innovation in the light of reforms carried out by Germany’s European neighbours.
The conference addresses the following themes:
• How can Europe create jobs on a sustainable basis?
• Will the Euro boost investment?
• What can Germany learn from the economic performances of its neighbours?
• Can the German system of consensus-based management maintain economic competitiveness?
• How can the European Union push through economic and political reform to make enlargement viable?
• What will be the effect of the German general election on Europe’s economic prospects?
