Professor William Paterson

Professor Paterson is Chairman of the German-British Forum, which was established to promote links between the business communities and increase mutual understanding, and membership of the British Königswinter Committee. He is also Honorary Professor of German and European Politics at the Aston Centre for Europe, Aston University, and a Fellow of the Royal Society of Edinburgh and an academician of the Academy of Social Sciences. Professor Paterson is the former Director of the Institute for German Studies at the University of Birmingham, which he helped to found. Directed by Professor Paterson since its foundation in 1994, the Institute is now the foremost British centre for the exchange of ideas and debate on Germany and has an established reputation as a research centre of international standing. Professor Paterson is also a former member of the Kuratorium of Allianzkulturstiftung.
