John Eisenhammer

Drawing on 13 years experience in business and foreign affairs journalism, John advises senior management in global corporates, financial institutions and professional organisations. He also works for foreign governments and prominent individuals, advising on strategic communications, financial transactions, reputation management and the handling of difficult and sensitive issues.

John has been a senior communications consultant since 1996, founding Quiller Consultants with Jonathan Hill in 1998. John went into communications from The Independent, where he was one of the first journalists to join the start-up newspaper. His last position at the paper was Financial Editor.

Before that he spent five years with The Independent in Germany, first as Bonn correspondent, then in Frankfurt, where he concentrated on European business.  He won the Foreign Correspondents’ Award for his coverage of German unification.

Speaking French, German and Italian, he was previously The Independent’s European Affairs Editor and diplomatic correspondent.  Before joining The Independent, he had been with Business magazine, and a current affairs commentator at the BBC World Service. 

He completed a doctorate in French politics at Oxford University in 1983 after taking a First in Politics, Philosophy and Economics at Christ Church.
