Patricia Godfrey is an independent business advisor.
She was a partner in the Banking and Finance Group at law firm CMS since 1991. She has many years’ experience advising a range of stakeholders in challenging financial situations and has developed a particular expertise on international work involving complex structures across a range of jurisdictions. In 2012 she was named European Woman of the Year for Restructuring & Insolvency in the Euromoney Women in Business Law Awards.
Throughout her career Patricia has had strong links to Germany. She chairs the board of the German British Chamber of Industry & Commerce in the UK being the first female to hold this office. She is also a director of the German British Forum.
During her career Patricia has held a number of board and leadership roles. She completed a four year term as a member of the Nabarro Partnership Board in May 2016 and held the role of Head of International within the firm from April 2012 to April 2017. Within the restructuring sector Patricia served a one year term as President of R3 (The Association of Business Recovery Professionals) being the first female appointed to this role. She was elected President of Insol Europe for a one year term between 2009-2010. She is currently an officer of the International Bar Association (IBA) and a Fellow of the American College of Bankruptcy.
Patricia enjoys sharing the skills and experience gathered over the years with those in the early stages of their careers. She is a visiting lecturer at Kings College London on the International LLM programme and recently joined the Risk & Advisory Committee of Cockpit Arts – an award winning Social Enterprise based in Holborn & Deptford and the UK’s only business incubator for crafts people.
