Airbus is changing its manufacturing practices constantly to deliver higher rates of production, and it must do this without disrupting current delivery schedules. Mark will discuss the areas of process automation Airbus is investing in, how it will save time and the effect on jobs.
Mark Howard is the Head of UK Research & Technology where he is responsible for the strategy for Airbus research projects in the UK, developing research partnerships within the industry and academia, and attracting and directing funding for collaborative research projects to boost the intellectual property generated in the UK.
He has worked for Airbus for 30 years and has a background in both engineering and programme management. His experience ranges from structural dynamic and aeroelastic testing, to research & technology management. He led the landing gear developments for A340-600 and A380 programmes and was the transnational lead of aircraft loads. The overall aircraft design responsibilities he has had include leading the non-specific definition of the A330neo wing.
